Training to support male victims of domestic abuse (fixed dates: online)

CPD accredited – seven CPD points

First class trainer-led online CPD accredited training for professionals, practitioners, organisations, agencies and employers on how to best recognise, understand and support male victims of domestic abuse. The training is for professionals currently working with or taking disclosures from male victims/survivors of Domestic Abuse.

Delivered in two bite-sized modules (three hours each) consisting of the content and objectives from the organisation training. Delivered via Zoom (or other platform if hosted by the client) and ideally aimed at up to 30 delegates.

Dates for these training are fixed and allow for individual professionals (or small numbers from one organisation) to join others from across the UK.

The training has been created and is delivered by qualified sector leading professionals (IDVAs).  It has been academically peer reviewed by the UK’s leading experts as well as male survivors. The charity has been running training for over 10 years.

Since 2010, we have trained, given presentations or spoken at conferences to over 100 organisations, a number of these are listed at the end of the page.

Why Do You Need Training?

One in six men suffer domestic abuse in their lifetime and one in every three victims are male. Organisations and practitioners working with domestic abuse victims are realising there is a growing need to ensure men and their children receive the support they need in their local community.

This also includes the need for statutory authorities to comply and meet their duties and requirements. This includes the Care Act 2014, the Equality Act 2010 especially the Public Sector Equality Duty and the Domestic Abuse Act 2021.

One Day Training Course: Details 

Delivered in two bite-sized modules (three hours each) consisting the following modules:

    • Module 1: Background and Statistics
    • Module 2: Domestic & partner abuse against men – what it looks like
    • Module 3: The signs of male domestic abuse
    • Module 4: Barriers & Stereotypes
    • Module 5: How to respond
    • Module 6: Supporting & Safety Planning
    • Module 7: Summary

The course has been as qualifying for 7 CPD points and we fully support the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) Domestic Violence and Abuse Quality Standard (QS116): Quality Standard

Our training to support male victims of domestic abuse is aimed at helping organisations in meeting the Quality Standard.
